Cathy Djaya, IT&B Campus student achievement in English debate competition or National University Debating Championship (NUDC) at Universitas Tanjungpura, Pontianak. “In the prestigious event at the national level, IT&B Campus sent 3 delegates to compete in competition among universities throughout Indonesia,” said Director of IT&B, Dr Agus Susanto Tan at the campus Jalan Mahoni Medan, Wednesday (2/9). According to Agus, “The IT&B delegation team competed with 114 best debate teams representing each Kopertis region,” said Agus after 7 rounds of qualification, the IT&B debate team, which is a novice category, the first novice team entered the main team (32 big) with the 19th rank. “This is a pride, let alone one of our debater that is Cathy Djaya get the 4th position as novice best speaker; Agus said, the IT&B debate team is a highest rated college of 8 departing teams, from Kopertis Region 1 North Sumatra.

The program according to Head of Student Affairs section Kopertis Region I, Sulhan Lubis, is an activity of the Directorate General of Learning and Kemenristekdikti Student Affairs. The program sets the pattern of student coaching to provide a venue for the growing potential of students to become people who believe and be cautious, knowledgeable, creative, skilled, competent and cultured. The activity aims to improve the competitiveness of students and college graduates through scientific debate media, improve oral English proficiency and create healthy competition among students. In addition to improving the ability of students to think critically and analytically, so that students are able to compete at the national and international level and strengthen the character of students through understanding the problems national and international as well as alternative solutions through debate competition.
