Institut Bisnis IT&B students who joined UKM IT&B English Warriors won the Indonesian SDG Debate Competition (ISDC) 2020 Region 1 Sumatra debate competition organized by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Academy Indonesia together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Indonesia, Bappenas, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Tanoto Foundation on 12 October 2020 through online Zoom Video Conferencing.

This competition was attended by 33 teams from various leading universities in Sumatra, such as Andalas University, Sriwijaya, Syiah Kuala, and so on. IB IT&B students (Nico Fernando Tan, Clara Jesica, and Viviella Garcia) won the Top 2 of the top 6 teams in Region 1 and made it to the National stage which will be held on 21-22 October 2020.

At the national level, 24 teams from various prestigious universities in Indonesia participated in this competition. IB IT&B students won the Top 7 of the top 8 teams and advanced to the Quarter-Final round with Padjajaran University, Diponegoro, President, Hasanuddin, Udayana, and Politeknik STAN. Institut Bisnis IT&B is the only university from the Sumatra that has won the quarter-finalists position in the national level debate competition.

All the achievements achieved by IT&B English Warriors students are never lost on the constant support of IB IT&B which provides intensive training and emotional support that encourages students to always try and be confident. The hope is that this achievement can motivate students to continue to be enthusiastic and achieve.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of IT&B, Dr. Agus Susanto Tan, said IT&B students who have made achievements should not be complacent with the achievements achieved in the English Warrior competition.

“Continue to achieve brilliant achievements in every competition by always maintaining the good name of the IT&B alma mater,” said Dr. Agus.

According to him, the achievements achieved by IT&B students were inseparable from the support and support of the lecturers. “I thank the lecturers who have guided well the IT&B students,” said Dr. Agus.
